I’m Kundan Kumar, an Electrical Engineer with a deep-rooted fascination for how power moves — through wires, grids, and ideas alike.
I hold an M.Tech in Electrical Energy Systems from MIT, where my research centered on the stability and control challenges of modern renewable-integrated grids. My dissertation, a simulation-based analysis of a PV–Battery Hybrid Energy Storage System, explored how solar generation and battery storage can be coordinated to keep DC bus voltages stable — a small piece of the much larger puzzle of building a more resilient, decentralized energy future and Smart Grid Technology.
That curiosity about power systems didn’t start in a classroom. It began with hands-on exposure to real infrastructure — observing generation operations at Damodar Valley Corporation’s Bokaro Thermal Power Station, and studying transformer maintenance and distribution systems at Tata Power, Jamshedpur. These early industrial experiences shaped how I think about engineering: not as abstract theory, but as systems that have to work, reliably, at scale, under real-world constraints.
Over the years, my work has spanned:
- Power Systems & Smart Grid Technology — from load dispatch optimization to renewable energy integration
- MATLAB/Simulink-based modelling of energy systems, including recent hands-on work at a specialized workshop at HBTU Kanpur
- Academic research and publication, including two peer-presented papers on Economic Load Dispatch using Genetic Algorithms and Lambda Iteration methods at IC-WINGS 2025, and ongoing work on rooftop PV optimization for Bihar’s energy landscape, proposed for conference at IIT Patna’s INSPECT 2026 conference.
- Independent technical practice, having qualified the UGC-NET in Electronic Science, opening the path toward doctoral research
Alongside my core engineering work, I’ve built and run WordPress-based web solutions since 2020 — designing, developing, and optimizing responsive websites across industries, with a working knowledge of SEO, hosting, and performance tuning. It’s a slightly unconventional pairing — electrical systems and web systems — but both come down to the same instinct: understanding how complex systems function, then making them work better.
